I read this news on another site a few weeks ago. So sad. Moving to Microsoft is not an 'initiative' by any sensible meaning of the word - it's a "follow the herd, save my ass" decision. As other people have commented on that site (lxer I think) the only end result is that people will be trained to click here and there in a "word processor" and at the end of the day be told that they learned something important. Well, important if you want to be a click-monkey. Why is it so hard to teach people that there's this tool called a 'computer' which you can also use to type stuff, and there is this thing called 'software' and some software will attempt to make what you look prettier - and in the case of any Microsoft product it will fail miserably yet many people mistakenly believe that what they typed actually looks good. Especially when you type it while being molested by an animated paper clip.
