News Comment All comments on news story: Debian upgrade may 'break' systems It's a reply to comment: Astounding! by: Bob Robertson  Ok, everyone who is going to change distribution versions without testing first raise your hands. While his concern is laudable, it's also easy to overstate the problem. Perfectly good running systems don't need to upgrade at all. Isn't that one of the great benefits of OpenSource verses proprietary closed source systems? No one is losing profits by leaving a working Debian Woody system alone, to keep on doing what Linux systems do best: Run. Since the software is effectively free, set up a second "new" server with the new distribution version on it and if it doesn't work the original is still available and running. Some day in the future, if it's important, upgrade it. Until then, don't worry be happy. Re: Astounding! by: Yueh  Unh, break your linux system by upgarding through apt-get??? I don't think so, unless you really have no clue of what you are doing
