Well, this isn't exactly the place to post such questions. What I'd recommend is that you check out LinuxQuestions.org -- it's a really nice forum that gets lots of visitors by many kinds of Linux users and questions like yours have been answered time and time again.
You also might try IRC -- specifically irc.freenode.net -- visit such channels as #linux which is a fairly general channel, and ask your questions there.
