Linux on the desktop? Well, as an analogy, let's look @ Citigroup: they started and have continued grabbing customers who are the average consumer, unlike the larger financial groups which focused on the larger business customers.

Microsoft, in a way, is like Citigroup: Big and successful, with billions of "little customers". Linux, by de facto, is targeted and successful with the large, enterprise customers. Cool. There will be trickle down with Linux, slowly, to the "little customers." It just takes time. And the time is not now. Wait for the time when the qualifier KB for storage disappears and everything is MB or GB. Then Linus will shine more on the desktop of the "little consumer."
