by Michael J. Jordan, Managing Editor

September 12, 2007

Linux Online has obtained internal memos from the Ubuntu project regarding the codenames they choose for different releases of Ubuntu. The public is familiar with names like Dapper Drake and Feisty Fawn, but here, for the first time, we're providing the names that were debated by the development team but were eventually rejected as official Ubuntu version codenames.

Number 10: Anorexic Aardvark

Number 9: Crappy Cougar

Number 8: Dippy Dingo

Number 5: Cheezy Chipmunk

Number 6: Nothing Gnu

Number 5: Flatulent Flounder

Number 4: Hungry Hungry Hippo

Number 3: Adipose Ass

Number 2: Beautiful Beaver

And the number 1 rejected Ubuntu version name is: Capitalist Pig
