| Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Desktop Edition approaches end-of-life |

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS was originally launched on the 1st of June, 2006 and included the 2.6.15 Linux kernel. The 6.06 LTS release was the first to feature a new graphical installer based on the LiveCD and included MySQL 5.0, Firefox 1.5 and OpenOffice 2.0. After the 14th of July, no new updates, including security updates and critical fixes, will be available for the Desktop Edition of Dapper Drake. However the server edition – Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server Edition, won't reach its end-of-life until June of 2011.
