Essential Linux tools for the PC technician, Mar 15, 2009

There’s almost no shortage of ways Linux is useful to Windows users because of two simple facts. Firstly, Linux can boot from a CD or memory stick without having to modify the hard disk in any way at all. The second simple fact that makes Linux useful to Windows is that it’s impervious to Windows viruses, malware, Trojans and other nasties.

Recently Red Hat has decided to go on the offensive with their patent strategy. With this patent Red Hat is attempting to patent “Method and apparatus to deliver messages between applications”.

There are many, many Linux distributions, and a lot of unique reasons to like them.

Is there a stimulus package on the way for those who use Linux and Open Source Software? You bet there is but it might not come from where you'd expect. Too many wasted stimulus dollars have already rained down upon those who wasted their own money but this time it'll be different.
