Why Open Computing matters for Government IT

Open computing is a flexible approach based around choice, agility and interoperability. It recognises that different organisations will want to exchange information and do business with each other, and that governments and businesses will use software and hardware from multiple IT vendors. Open computing incorporates open standards and open source, but it's not limited to these. It's all about flexibility – and this flexibility can lead to lower costs.
