The growing prominence of Linux in China is resulting in an industry event to take place there in February, co-sponsored by the Linux Foundation and Chinese OSS Promotion Union, the foundation announced Monday.

KDE gestures are a way to assign mouse movements to certain tasks. With the right customization you can control your computer by moving your mouse around like a mad conductor. OK that is a bit overboard but you get the point.

Life has been better for Red Hat. First there was Oracle pitching customers on its own fork of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and now SAP is recommending Novell's SUSE Linux as its preferred platform.

Thomas Howe is a telecommunications developer and consultant who is passionate about the role of open source software in the telephony industry.
