Microsoft wants to bring its Windows operating system to the low-cost XO laptop for underprivileged children. It is currently working to adapt a basic version of Windows XP to be compatible.

The XO was designed specifically to run Linux programs, and so these users would grow up to be familiar and comfortable with the Linux operating system. Microsoft doesn’t want to lose the opportunity to expose Windows to millions of children worldwide.
