Networking startup Vyatta launched an open-source router appliance on Monday, moving deeper into the billion-dollar networking market dominated by Cisco and Juniper.

Vyatta’s appliance comes some three months after the company launched a software-only product as a low-cost alternative to traditional routers sold by Cisco and Juniper. The appliance bundles that software product called the Open Flexible Router with a Dell PowerEdge 850 machine.
