Network vendors promote Linux for carrier networks, Jul 03, 2006

The SCOPE Alliance, a grouping of major telecoms networking equipment vendors, has published a profile for a carrier-grade Linux operating system.

With a show of hands, French lawmakers approved a new copyright law on Friday, in a move that could have profound consequences for online music stores, open-source programmers, desktop Linux users and P-to-P (peer-to-peer) file sharers.

Many in the Linux world believe that Linux desktops can easily replace Microsoft Windows for certain uses. They also admit that the Linux desktop may not be a solution for all Windows users, but they firmly believe that they are making progress toward that goal.

If you are a Linux enthusiast and you would like to see Linux become a powerful mobile platform rather than become a forked-like-hell implementation throwing itself left and right depending on some companies' wishes, then write to them and ask them to form an aliance that includes all existing aliances.
