Wall Street Optimistic On Red Hat Despite Q1 Miss

Shares of Red Hat fell 9% after the Linux software provider disappointed with below-consensus first-quarter earnings and a conservative outlook for 2007.

Red Hat reported total revenue of $84 million, a 38% year-over-year increase, with earnings of 7 cents per share, compared with consensus estimates of 9 cents per share on revenue of $83 million.
