Google promotes Firefox browser on its home page, Apr 28, 2006

Mozilla's Firefox is getting promoted on one of the world's most popular Web pages, Google's Google.com home page, as the open-source browser continues its David-vs.-Goliath battle against Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Mepis LLC on April 27 announced the Beta 1 release of SimplyMepis 6.0, the first of two planned betas before the final version is to launch around June 1. Beta 2 will be out May 3, according to Mepis founder and chief maintainer Warren Woodford.

If Microsoft really wants to make Vista a great desktop operating system, it should open-source it.
