Microsoft takes European antitrust case to the public

Microsoft must explain this week why the European Commission should not fine it up to 2 million euros ($2.39 million) a day for failing to comply with an antitrust order.

The European antitrust regulator last year set a December 15 deadline for Microsoft to comply with its 2004 order, but found the company's reply inadequate.
