HP server exec leaves for Linux firm, Jan 16, 2006

Pauline Nist, for years a leader of Hewlett-Packard's high-end NonStop server group, has become senior vice president of product development at Penguin Computing, the Linux server maker plans to announce Monday.

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is due to release the initial draft of the GNU general public license (GPL) version 3 Monday. Software vendors and lawyers expect the draft to include a number of clarifications in the license's wording so it can better recognize global copyright.

Regardless of the critics, even in spite of them, the Linux Story remains one of the greatest in recorded history. You have protagonists and antagonoists, drama, plots and subplots and we have only made it through part of Act II. So much more remains for others to tell.

Linux has made major inroads on servers and in data centers running both open-source and proprietary applications on millions of computers worldwide.

Little Penguin Computing has nabbed one of HP's major hardware executives, announcing that Pauline Nist will officially join the company next week.
