Szulik: Desktop Linux dominates discussions, May 29, 2005

Use of Linux on personal computers may not have made major inroads against leader Microsoft, but it has become prominent in conversations with information technology executives, Red Hat Chief Executive Matthew Szulik said Wednesday.

Where is the Open Source Usability Experts Group? When you've got your database specialist, your glue logic guy and your OS expert together, where's the person who knows how real non-technical people react to software design?

Samsung has agreed to bundle some of its corporate servers with Haansoft's Linux software, the company said in a press release. The agreement also allows Haansoft to sell its two Linux software programs at a discounted price through Samsung Electronics, the statement said.

The Indian government is trying to encourage the use of computers across the country by distributing free CDs that contain localized versions of popular open-source applications.
