KDE 3.4 is Out, Mar 17, 2005

KDE 3.4 has been released today. "After more than a half year of development the KDE Project is happy to be able to announce a new major release of the award-winning K Desktop Environment.

Linspire Inc. on Wednesday launched an upgrade of its Linux desktop, which includes a streamlined graphical interface and improved laptop and hardware support.

"The demand for Linux on the desktop, while still small, is growing and represents an opportunity for Intel's channel network," Intel spokesman Scott McLaughlin said in a statement.

Analyst Stacey Quandt, senior business analyst, open-source practice leader for the Robert Frances Group, said she believes Novell's Linux standing will remain solid.

Red Hat said Tuesday it has hired a new head of its marketing division - the company's fifth marketing chief in six years.

Sony Ericsson has used Linux to build a tiny robotic camera that can be controlled via Bluetooth from Bluetooth/Java phones. The ROB-1 includes a VGA camera, four LEDs, and software that, with some phones, can stream back video for capture on the phone.
