Linux gets big in the City

Support for Linux in the traditionally conservative world of financial services has more than doubled in the last year according to the latest market intelligence.

Support for open source technologies from mainstream suppliers such as IBM and Sun has boosted the number of financial institutions using Linux from 27 per cent last year to 58 per cent in 2005, according to a report from financial technology researchers Finextra.
