Massachusetts Senator Hails Compromise On Open-Source Effort, Jan 23, 2005

A Massachusetts state senator who had complained about the state government's effort to promote open-source software at the expense of proprietary software has hailed the state's effort to reach a compromise over future software purchases by the state.

While the AMD-Linux combination generated generous enthusiasm in the market in 2003, duty revisions, price cuts and year-round promotions have kept the market buoyant in 2004," according to a recent IDC report.
