Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, the latest iteration of the firm's flagship server operating system, could be launched as early as next month, various industry sources have revealed. Based on version 2.6 of the Linux kernel, the product is expected to feature a slew of security and networking enhancements, including support for a set of utilities called Security-Enhanced Linux.

Steve McWhirter, Red Hat's vice president for Asia-Pacific, told CNETAsia in an interview the firm will also unveil its latest desktop operating system alongside the debut of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.
