Microsoft says Linux leaks cost compared to commercial software solutions

Like a stone tossed onto the surface of a still river, mention Linux and Windows in the same breath around a bunch of IT guys, and the ripples carry on forever.

A Jan. 10 AMI-Partners Inc. report -- the "Worldwide SMB Linux Forecast" -- stated the open source technology has gained legitimacy from vendors such as Red Hat, HP, Novell and IBM. It also said small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) across the planet are expected to invest increasingly in Linux and open source technologies over the next five years.
