I intended to begin the New Year with a nice blurb for my friends at the Software Industry Promotion Agency's (SIPA) open source department, headed by a charming Englishman called James Clark. They are going to launch an Open Source Art Contest and I offered to put a spin on it in time for their launch at the Thailand Animation and Multimedia event (which starts today).
Instead of getting the information I wanted for the article, we spent most of our time talking about other things, such as whether Google is a good example of open source or not. Indeed, the conversation touched on the very core of what constitutes open source.
