Debian 'Woody' update, Jan 03, 2005

The first day of the New Year marks the fourth update of Woody, otherwise known as Debian GNU/Linux 3.0.

Choosing small business or personal accounting software seems relatively simple: evaluate features, ease of use, price, support--the usual things. The one factor that can really drive you nuts is migrating away from an existing installation.

You download a CD or maybe a diskette image, transfer it to the appropriate media, boot your computer with it, and voilą, you're running Linux. It sounds so simple -- but a great deal of work goes into creating that software.

The year 2004 might someday be remembered as the year that venture capitalists got interested in open source interested enough to fund a number of new companies based on open source, especially Linux.
