GeneralA German university was accused by the BSA of pirating MS Office, because they mirrored OpenOffice.org. The scripts from the BSA only check for "Office" in the filename and then automatically send out notices to the ftp admins

GeneralWebmaster's note: It's totally unintentional, but today seems like BSA horror story day! Here's a second one about the dreaded BSA (and we're not talking about the Boy Scouts of America).

Ball figures he has saved $80,000 so far, and expects to save more because he won't have to pay for Microsoft upgrades. "I used to be furious at Microsoft," says Ball, whose company is based in San Luis Obispo, Calif. "Now, I thank them because even with the fine, I'm way ahead." Microsoft wouldn't discuss Ball's situation but says it no longer sends out such letters
