Mozilla: Hit bug on head, win lizard, Nov 06, 2002
In a tech industry equivalent to guessing the number of jelly beans in a jar, the development group behind the Mozilla browser is challenging geeks to guess the exact date and time when the project's 200,000th bug will be reported.

Mozilla rising, Sep 10, 2002
But the best part about Mozilla is that it is not just a browser. Scores of developers are now talking about using Mozilla as a "platform" -- that is, using Mozilla's underlying code to build non-browser applications, like calendar programs and e-mail programs and even Linux desktops.

Mozilla, an Old Browser New Again, Jun 18, 2002
Another big part of Mozilla's users-first agenda is rendering Web pages accurately by supporting the full set of Web-authoring formats. The Web Standards Project (www.webstandards.org) puts this succinctly on its Web site: "No browser does a better job of standards compliance." This means Mozilla is more likely than other browsers to display pages as they were designed.

Mozilla.org clarifies security policy, May 07, 2002
There has been much happy publicity about the recent XMLHttpRequest allows reading of local files security problem that was reported by GreyMagic Software. The problem was reported on April 30th and affected almost every version of Mozilla and NS6.x currently in use. By May 1st, the trunk and 1.0 branch builds had the patch included and were no longer vulnerable. Mozilla's security record speaks for itself, with only a handful of problems reported to IE's uncountable onslaught of problems, some of the IE patches taking over a month to be released.
Netscape flaw exposes hard drives, May 01, 2002
The bug is found in versions of Mozilla from 0.9.7 to 0.9.9 on various operating system platforms, and in Netscape versions 6.1 and higher. The flaw doesn't affect Mozilla 1.0 release candidate 1 because XMLHttpRequest appears to be broken in that release, according to Mozilla developers.
Mozilla's next big step, May 01, 2002
We reach out through our technology. Mozilla.org is a technology organization. We don't have a marketing branch, and we don't have marketing resources. So we strive to provide technology that's useful to people and to make it known. We do not have, or currently plan, a marketing campaign. If someone wanted to do that, you know, we would certainly be interested and talk about it. But right now, it's not in our plans.
The Browser That Roared, Apr 26, 2002
But even if Mozilla were a terrible browser, it would be important just for being different. Right now 90% of the Web surfers in the world use Internet Explorer. Do you trust Microsoft to control how everybody on earth sees the Internet? For that matter, would you trust AOL or any other company? On the Internet, diversity is healthy. Sometimes a little complication can be a good thing.

Mozilla set for a splash?, Apr 13, 2002
Mozilla is an unlikely candidate for a comeback, given that it is barely sliding out of the box.
But a comeback is exactly what the open-source project hopes to pull off in the next few weeks, when the Netscape Communications-backed effort releases the first official version of its Web browser. After four years in development, the pending event has renewed excitement in a project that once was hailed as a possible Microsoft killer--only to tumble into obscurity after lengthy delays.

2002 Linux Web Browser Review, Mar 02, 2002
The latest browser versions have improved considerably in the past few months; they were all stable, standards
compliant and loaded with solid feature enhancements and additions. The
best browsers are Galeon 1.0.3, Mozilla 0.9.8 and Opera 6.0 TP3. While
all of the browsers run surprisingly fast on slower CPUs, you need 256MB of
RAM for Red Hat 7.2 with the KDE desktop.
