GeneralLike it or not, Microsoft has a monopoly in business applications. Now, I'm not talking databases and transactional systems, because they obviously have a good deal of competition there. No, I'm talking about Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. This is a more insidious monopoly than the OS monopoly.

GeneralFor these reasons, the following basic recommendation are made to ssh administrators. Use SSH2, rather than SSH1. Clients are available for SSH2 now with widespread availability, including for Mac and Windows, and many of these clients are freely available.
- Rare Linux virus on the loose, Jan 03, 2002
GeneralIt has emerged in the last week that another of those rare Linux viruses may be on the loose. And this one has strong similarities to October's Remote Shell Trojan (RST) that was largely dismissed by the Linux community. In a posting to a security mailing list at the end of December, SecurityFocus brought 'RST.b' to the internet community's attention.
