- IBM Brings High-End Clustering To Linux, Mar 20, 2001

GeneralIBM today announced an extension of its products to help manage large server farms from a single workstation.

Code-named Blue Hammer, IBM's eServer clusters are in the works for Unix and Linux. The clusters, slated to be available in the upcoming months, will enable IBM customers to manage up to 32 eServer rack systems from a single point.

GeneralSoftware firm Turbolinux has scuttled an initial public offering aimed at raising $60 million for its lean corporate coffers. The Brisbane, Calif., company filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission to withdraw its offering, blaming "current market conditions."

GeneralChina's government said it will invest in Red Flag Software, China's largest Linux software developer, to try to curb Microsoft's dominance of the country's software market. CCIDNET Investment, a venture capital investment company owned by the Ministry of Information Industry, will become Red Flag's second-largest shareholder after the China Academy of Science, and will help the company list on a stock market in China or abroad.
