- Coming to open source: Transmeta's Linux for PDAs, Feb 12, 2001

GeneralCompany sources said that Transmeta (Nasdaq: TMTA) plans to release Mobile Linux to the open-source community soon, a move that follows growing collaboration between Linux developers and manufacturers of handheld computers.

Mobile Linux is optimized for Transmeta's Crusoe processor, with device driver support and enhancement for the company's LongRun power management technology.

Microsoft...the implication that software users need a company like Microsoft to provide innovation is just so much leftover spin from the DOJ trial. The fact is that a completely decentralized, noncorporate coalition delivered Linux as it stands today. Now that's innovation.
