Red Hat chief details Linux services push, Feb 03, 2001
The Red Hat Network is more than a subscription system for keeping Linux computers updated -- it's also a potential tool for enabling computer makers such as IBM to resell Red Hat's services.
Bob Young, Red Hat's chairman and former chief executive, declined to say whether a deal to let IBM or other companies sell the service is in the works, but said it's the kind of opportunity the company sees with the Red Hat Network.
SteelEye clustering for Linux, Feb 03, 2001
Compaq has selected SteelEye Technology's clustering software to help its high-end Linux servers catch up to those running Microsoft
Windows.
The clustering software, which lets one server take over from another, automatically, if the primary one fails, will also work with some
higher-end Compaq storage devices, Boris Geller, SteelEye's vice president of marketing, said last week.
