- FirstLinux.net: Smart card: Obtaining System Information, Aug 18, 2000

GeneralThis Smart card runs through 5 command line utilities that are essential tools in displaying the current state of your system. You may be thinking about installing the StarOffice package on your machine. Do you have enough HD space? Will StarOffice consume too much RAM when running? Will it place an undue burden on the system? All these questions can be answered by running df, free, ps and top. We have also included the utility, w, in this Smart card because it's another way of finding out the load on your system, as well as displaying who is currently logged on the machine.
