Hi. I'm a new member, just downloaded Cygwin 32 bit. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit. So, now I am downloading Cygwin 64, without uninstalling Cygwin 32, and the 64 bit is taking longer than 20 min. Is it normal? Please confirm compatibility with Windows 8.1?

I have never used Cygwin, try asking in the forums for better help.

Look at the "Inbox" at the top of the page. Hover the cursor over that and click "Start new conversation". Then, in the new window, type like you would any other thread, but in the "Participants" box, list all users on this site that you want to include in this private thread/conversation.

We use that to collaborate like when we made this article (http://www.linux.org/threads/yin-yang-tux.5240/) together. Me and anyone you include can help you and add ideas. Or, if you prefer to email it directly to me only, my email is DevynCJohnson@Gmail.com

I am not sure which books would be the best, but some Linux users recommend this one (http://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php). You could probably use any that you get from a library or Amazon.com. Personally, I have never found a bad Linux book. Linux.org and Linux.com are two good sites to learn about Linux.

The best way this can get answered is to ask on the forums by clicking "Forums" near the top of the page. Then, pick the category that best matches your question. Lastly, click "Create new thread" and ask your question.

You should look at khanacademy.org on the LEARN tab to Math tab and pick a math course how they break a subject down to learn especially in mathematics. You can sort of do that with this website to make it funner and also know that your members are actually learning linux. khanacademy.org will give you an idea on how to make a free LINUX school.

Devyn Collier Johnson is a programmer, technical author, and a fan of Linux. He attends college as a commuting student maintaining the Dean's list. He majors in electrical technology engineering and plans to earn several other degrees in computers technology and programming. Devyn Collier Johnson has learned many computer languages, bindings, and APIs. Some he taught himself while others his father taught him and helped him understand. Some of the languages and bindings he knows include Python2&3, Xaiml, AIML, Unix Shell, PyQt, PyGTK/PyGObject, Coffeescript, Lua, Scala, Ceylon, HTML4/5, CSS3, SVG, and many others. He knows some data structures such as SQLite3, JSON, and more. Devyn has learned about other languages, bindings, data structures, libraries, APIs, and such (just contact me if you need to know about my other programming skills). Devyn is familiar and has used many operating systems, IDEs, and compilers. He earned four computer certifications in 2012 and those four being NCLA, Linux+, LPIC-1, and DCTS; he has also earned one college degree. His Linux Professional ID is LPI000254694. Devyn has also contributed to various projects such as Wallch, SuperTux, Firefox, and others.

In July 2012, Devyn Collier Johnson decided to make his own chatterbot. He designed his own database language (Xaiml) and AI/SI engine (ProgramPY-SH or Pysh). On March 3, 2013, Devyn published his new chatterbot on Launchpad.net. The bot is named Neo (https://launchpad.net/neobot) which is from the Proto-Indo European word for "new". He has created other chatbots that use the Pysh engine. Devyn is the inventor and copyright owner of Pysh, Xaiml, and the Betabots.

Devyn maintains a few other projects. He makes Firefox themes (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/DevynCJohnson/); he also has many other graphic design projects. His main programming projects are hosted on https://launchpad.net/~devyncjohnson-d, and some are found on Sourceforge.net and Github. Some of his projects can be found in the links below.
