Editing other type of files
What if you want to edit that important report you're preparing for
your boss? If it's in RTF (Rich Text) format or even DOC format,
you're in luck. Konqueror will recognize these files as such and if
you've got OpenOffice.org installed, it will prompt you to open the
files with this application. The key here though is that these files
must already exist and be in these formats. I must confess that I have
had no luck trying to create a text file with an extension *.rtf and
having those files recognized as such. I'll have to concede the win to
Konqueror - it's smarter than I am. We can get around this, though.
As you know, Konqueror is a typical 'drag-n-drop' style file manager. That means
that we can use the fish protocol to "drag" files across the network. So, if
you wanted to create, say, a report in RTF format, you could create it at
the machine your sitting - some basic file with a few words - save it as RTF
and then drag it over to your Konqueror fish session window and send
it to the remote machine.

Now, Konqueror will recognize this as an RTF that OpenOffice can open. Simply
choose 'Open with OpenOffice' and edit to your heart's content.

Konqueror will prompt you to transfer the changes when you close OpenOffice.

This will work with with any type of file that Konqueror will recognize.
