Usenet Newsgroups

Newsgroups are an excellent resource for new and experienced Linux users. A wide variety of groups are offer a wealth of information on general and specific topics of discussion. Generally, it is considered inappropriate to post messages (articles) to more than one group (cross-posting), so select the most appropriate group prior to posting any messages. When in doubt, the comp.os.linux.misc group is a good choice.

Most internet services providers (ISP's) provide access to a news server, which in turn contains thousands of newsgroups. Not all servers contain all newsgroups, so if you are having difficulting locating a particular group on your news server, ask your ISP to add the group to their list, or try searching or posting at Deja News which maintains current and archived articles.

If you know of a Linux-related newsgroup that's missing from our list, please send a message to our Suggestion Box and we will add it to the list.
