Windows 98
Pentium III
64 MB RAM
10 GB Storage

I want to wipe the operating system and put linux on it.

I need ideas on which distro, and even what I can use this pc for. I have unlimited curiosity so try me.

I have an old pentium III box that I use as storage for all my backups. Debian runs on it with no problems but I don't use it as a desktop system so there are no graphics demands on it. It does have 1GB of ram which makes it usable. Bump up the memory and you should be able to run most distros on your old system as a file server, a mail server, a development box, or even a local-use web server.

I recommend Crunchbang linux. It has super low system requirements. The only issue you could have is the ram, but I went into their forums, and saw some people with ram that low. Good luck!

Puppy Linux? It only requires 128MB RAM (just a little more...)
