About Compatebility

This looks like the right section to post this question. I've been reviewing Linux products for a long time, and I'm interesting in switching over to one of their operating systems. One issue I want to ask about before I do is knowing what other programs can run on a Linux OS. How can I find out which ones are compatible? I really want to switch, but I do also really love some of the software I already use. Would any of these programs work on a particular OS, or work in a software that supports other components?

Adobe CS6 Package

Microsoft Office

Corel Video Studio or Cyberlink PowerDirector

Microsoft Paint

Please let me know. I'm very interested in switching.

As you probably already know, Windows apps do not run natively on Linux. There is WINE which you can install on Linux to run some Windows apps which you might want to look into. If there is no requirement other than your own preferences to continue to use the Windows apps, I think you would be better served trying out Linux equivalents to them. Most equivalents have the same functionality as their Windows counterparts but will require you to learn their own particular ways of getting the job done. Have a look here:

Thank you for your feedback. Wine looks like it will be quite useful. On their site, I do question what the platinum ratings mean? Photoshop CS6 has one. I recon that's better than gold.

Actually, I'm all for a totally new look. I always like exploring new setups. I don't mind if the operating system looks nothing like Windows. It's more on the lines of some of the software Windows has that I like. Not saying Linux doesn't, I'm just not sure what to expect, and want to make sure I have the right gear.
