I want to install either:
Fedora
or
Mint

Can a use a USB to install one/both of them?

If i do use a USB after I've installed it can i take it off the USB and use the USB for other things?

Finally, can someone describe the main differences between Fedora and Mint?

Thanks!!

Yes, you can put either one on a USB to install. In fact, you can run the live version of both to see if you like one more than the other. I have never tried to put two distributions on the same USB. And, yes, you can remove them from the USB when you're done and use it for other things. You will find Mint to be more newbie-friendly, as it will come with codecs to watch videos, listen to music, etc. It will have Flash and Java already installed, for example, while you'll have to find those things and install them yourself with Fedora. Mint will also feel more familiar if you have been using Windows. They both have their merits, though.

What are some benefits of fedora? you focused a lot on Mint and not much on Fedora.

Why would someone use Fedora over Mint?

Fedora is generally regarded as more cutting-edge. That can be good or bad, depending on what you like. It will give you a more pure Gnome 3 experience. Really, the thing to do is just try them both and see what you like.

OK thanks. ill try mint for a bit and see if i like it. then i'm going to try Fedora and see if i like it more. if not i can switch back. if i do like fedora ill stay with it and try Ubuntu, Debian, kubuntu and any other Flavor.

Thanks a lot for the help really needed it.
