How to suspend your machine?

Code:
$ pm-suspend
bash: pm-suspend: command not found

But then, why oh why would I want to suspend my machine? It's done nothing wrong.

Haha. Perhaps you should install pm-utils package, at least if you use Ubuntu.

carbon,

I've been noticing in a lot of your tutorials you post on here, you don't go into any detail (i.e.: what packages need installed). I'd suggest for future postings to make note that (unless its in the standard Linux tools like linux-utils-ng) you inform us what package(s) the tool(s) are in. It not only helps reduce issues like KenJackson brought up, but it also gives you more credibility on here than just posting to post.

OK, I'll keep that in mind. Ubuntu is so user-friendly that it prints:

$ htop
The program 'htop' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install htop

if you don't have this program installed. I tend to forget that not everybody uses Ubuntu.

Well that and Ubuntu doesn't always say that, that's only if the package is found in its repos. Otherwise, it'll just spit out that the command isn't found.

Of course. But since I have maybe one or two programs out of repos, I assume if I have it - it IS in repos.
