The book is oriented towards getting Windows 95 machines connected to a Linux server on a local network, the local network to the Internet and then managing the enterprise. Samba is used as the glue that ties the local network together to allow the Windows machines to access the Linux server's file and printer services. The Linux programs PPP, diald, IPFWADM and IP masquarading are used to safetly and securely connect the local network to the Internet. Mr. Sery wrote this book in the way that he likes to learn. Detailed instructions are given throughout the book for all his examples. For instance, he goesstep-by-step through the Red Hat installation process, the Windows 95 networkconfiguration, his PPP connection to his Internet Service Provider, his IP filteringfirewall, etc. Numerous examples are also given for configuring Samba and the Red HatPackage (RPM) manager.
