Linux.org Phase 2 Rollout: Inline comments and RSS feeds

« Back to Basics Articles

We're happy to announce two new features to Linux.org! Comments and RSS Feeds.

Our comments aren't just any old comments though, they're inline comments. We love the idea of inline comments because it allows users to comment on a particular part of an article or tutorial.

Comments Overview:

Each section of an article will have a corresponding vertical bar to the right of it along with a comment (#) symbol. When there are comments, there will be a number to the right of the vertical bar.

Viewing comments:
To view comments, simply click on the number to the right of the vertical bar.

Making a new comment:
To create a new comment, be sure you're logged in (facebook-connect for now, we're still working on our login system) and click on the comment symbol to the right of the vertical bar to open a comment box. Then simply hit submit.

RSS Feeds

You can either subscribe to our main RSS feed that will show all of our categories:
http://www.linux.org/feeds/rss (Also, linked at the bottom of every page)
Or, you can choose which category you'd like to follow by visiting our articles page and clicking an RSS button.

The RSS feeds should be stable enough, but we'd like to make a note that the comments system is in beta. If you find bugs with this feature, please report them at Bugs.Linux.org.

We're still working on A bunch of great features so stay tuned!
