Application: Blender

Blender is an open source 3D Modeller originally used by NeoGeo, for many of their games etc. Also included is a game engine. Now used by artists all around the world to create amazing pieces of art. Being the in-house software of a high quality animation studio, Blender has proven to be an extremely fast and versatile design instrument. Use Blender to create TV commercials, to make technical visualizations, business graphics, to do some morphing, or design user interfaces. You can easy build and manage complex environments. The renderer is versatile and extremely fast. All basic animation principles (curves & keys) are well implemented.

Features: Inverse Kinematic Animation (IKA), Sub Surf, Nurbs, Beizers, Network Rendering, Game engine, Plugin support (programmed in Python), Multiple platfroms, Open Source, Versatile Renderer, Great animation tools, efficient (takes a little while to get used to, but worth it) GUI, NTSC and PAL video support, many file formats (JPEG, PNG, TARGA etc), Compressed video output and many others.
