| The ABI is a patch to the kernel that allows
you to run SCO, Xenix, Solaris ix86 binaries
on Linux. Excellent for porting software
for Linux!
The latest version 2.4.18.0 is stable,
previous versions however are not as reliable.
This patch must be used with a 'vanilla' kernel
[i.e. from www.kernel.org NOT a distro kernel]
However various distro's (e.g. Redhat) distribute kernels with the ABI included.
Check that it is the latest version though
(if you are using a 2.4.18+ kernel then
it probably is, otherwise it may not be)
N.B. Latest RH kernel Updates (and RH8/9) do not contain the A.B.I. |
