| Grouse Grep for Linux updates the original version published for DOS included in the November 1997 edition of "Dr. Dobb's Journal". It is a major port of the code to GNU/Linux, based on GCC, and is faster than GNU Grep in a number of important areas. However, the code can be exponentially slower than GNU for more complex searches. Complete C source is included in the release, and the Web contains a lot of documentation both on the code modules themselves, and on the algorithms that give the application its speed. |
